May 31, 1899 a deed of purchase was concluded for the sale of 2 acres of urban undeveloped land to the Ministry of Finance between the Fair Square and the old Penza road (Mokshanskaya 16), 300 rubles per dessiatine, for the construction of a wine warehouse.

For the first time, in the report on state sale of drinks for the Penza Excise Office in 1903 the following line appears - Saransk State Wine Warehouse No. 3, which produced 261.006.5 buckets.

The warehouse has operated at full capacity until the end of 1917. In December 1917, it was plundered during the period of the change of power and unrest. There was a fire, part of the warehouse, including the rectification department and the equipment was burned, and the building was seriously damaged. There, the Mordovian Workers' Department was opened after reconstruction in 1929. The equipment was dismantled and transferred to the Oblast Executive Committee, which was to determine the location for the transfer of the plant.

Saransk Vodka Plant was moved to the heart of the city and was created on the basis of the existing buildings of the old merchant's yard, erected in the late 19th century. In the future, it represented a heap of dilapidated buildings with its numerous superstructures and additions that were badly damaged by time. There were manufactured the following products: «Vodka Moscovskaya», «Zubrobka», liqueurs and kvass.

The plant was operating at full capacity by the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Vodka was bottled 1500 deciliters per day (15,000 liters) for shipment to the front, 500-550 decaliters per day (5000-5,500 liters). The soldiers were allowed to consume 100 to 150 grams of vodka before the battle, in order to warm the body.

In 1963, the Council of the National Economy of the Volgo-Vyatka economic region has established, by its Resolution No. 8 of March 7, Vl.Maryanovski, Kemlyansky, Komsomol (Meltsansky), Kovylkinsky, Romodanovsky, Tengushevsky distilleries association on the basis of the Saransk distillery in the Mordovian ASSR and referred it to Saransk Production Association for the manufacture of alcoholic beverages - Saransk Alcoholic beverage Plant. Later the plant was moved to the address of 58A Lenina av., Saransk.
