On November 26, the final of the contest SummerVar 2018 was held in Saransk. This is the first Russian competition among bartenders for distillates of the Samovar brand. The aim of the competition was to attract the attention of professional bartenders of Russia to the traditional Russian drink against the general background of the popularization of the cocktail culture. The condition for participation in the competition was the creation of a new cocktail on one of the 6 types of the first Russian distillate “Samovar”. It was necessary to spice up the cocktail with the history of its creation and photography. More than 200 professional bartenders from all over Russia, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, took part in the selection stage. Most of the participants not only created a unique taste, but also accompanied their cocktail with staged photos, which can be seen on the contest page on Instagram: @ summervar2018. The professionalism of the participants of the competition - cocktail recipes, stories of inspiration and photography - exceeded all expectations. Due to the tangible involvement of participants in the competition, it became clear that the traditional Russian distillate has great potential in the environment of a developing cocktail culture. Representatives of leading Russian bars, including those included in the world rating of # worlds50bestbars, demonstrated a mature ability to create new flavors worthy of the cocktail cards of most Russian bars. Many of the proposed cocktails will be offered to guests of institutions throughout Russia in the summer offer of the best bars in the country. The organizer of the competition was Saransky Distillery, one of the oldest producers of alcoholic beverages in Russia, which has been leading its history since 1899. The company is in the TOP-10 producers of strong alcohol in Russia and is famous for its unsurpassed quality products, with international awards. In 2016, at the Kemlyansky distillery, founded in 1828 from the distillery of the landowner Krotkov, a distillery production shop was opened, equipped with a traditional copper distillation cube. In 2017, the distillery "Saransk" released a line of the first Russian distillates under the brand "Samovar". Until recently, distillates were imported to Russia only from abroad. “Samovar” is the first distillate produced in Russia and is a revival of the glorious traditions of Russian distillation.
