On 4 August the temple of St. Andrew the First-Called was opened in Mordovia.
The building of the temple of St. Andrew began with the blessing of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill in Atyashevo.
The consecration of the new temple is one of the most interesting ceremonies of the Russian Orthodox Church. In Atyashevo he began at eight in the morning and finished almost at noon. The district center is full of St. Andrew's flags. Saint, in honor of which the new temple was consecrated, is the patron of the Navy. The Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was the prototype of this temple. Area - 400 square meters, height - more than 35 meters, 13 bells. The temple accommodates more than 800 people. The consecration was performed by the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofiy, the administrator of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate. The opening ceremony was attended by about 7000 residents and guests of Mordovia.
